Wii

I love finding fun things to do that double as a little exercise. Last Christmas, my husband started dropping hints that he wanted a Wii. He spent the next few months convincing me that we should get one, so with out tax refund I broke down and agreed!
Now we just have a regular Wii, not a fit, so I wouldn't exactly promote this as your daily exercise, but after shredding last night, my husband asked if I wanted to play Wii. We usually bowl or play Mario Kart, but I'm so close to the next level in boxing I told him I'd play a few rounds and then we could race. I have heard of some people strapping 5 lb. wrist weights on when boxing, but I'm not that hardcore!
It is a nice extra, fun workout though! And after boxing for 20 minutes, I was still a bit winded!
As for the fit, we may look into the fit sometime.... does anyone have one? Any comments on it?

  1. I don't know about the Wii Fit but Dance Dance Revolution for the Wii is a good workout too. Maybe I will do a post about that in the future.

  2. I got the Wii Fit for Christmas...I really like it. It's not really hardcore exercising, but for someone like me (who doesn't really exercise on a regular basis and doesn't own a gym membership), it's really nice to have. I'm using it go get back into an exercise habit...it's really easy to get my butt off the couch and get some exercise with the Fit. And if you like boxing on the Wii Sports game...you'd LOVE the boxing on the Fit! I'm also liking the Yoga and the "strength training" exercises.

  3. I got the Wii Fit awhile ago, and I used it almost everyday for a few months but then got tired of it. I play it now maybe two times a week, but that's stretching it! It is fun though!

  4. I think the Wii Fit is good for someone who is just starting to exercise again (like me!)... We got one for Christmas & for me, it is a pretty good lil workout & when I do the strength training I can tell I've done something the next day... But I'm hoping it will just get me a little toned so that when the weather gets nice again I will actually be able to start doing a "real" workout! :)

  5. I have the wii fit. I like it, but agree with others that it's not a replacement for exercise, but I do have to say it is tons of fun!!! Another game I highly recommend is We Cheer. It is a little childish, but so much fun. You use two wii remotes as pom poms and there is a lot of dance and movement involved. My arms were sore the next day! Good luck!

  6. WE got the Wii fit for Christmas and love it. When you unlock some of the more advanced stuff, it is just like regular exercise. The advance free style dance and the free style run are examples of this. You can set the time for 30 minutes, change the channel and it will track your steps (stepping on and off the wii fit board) or the distance you jog, run (and you can even leave the area in front of the tv as well for this one) in the 30 (or 10 or 20 mins) minutes you chose. There are a lot of things on it that are more just fun, but it can also be done to be real exercise. It's like with most other things in life, you get out of it what you put into it. If you exercise on it hard, you can break a sweat. If you play it just for fun in mind, that's all it will be. Just my two cents.

  7. We have one and honestly don't use it as much as I thought we would. I feel like a lot of my "workout" time is wasted switching between menus. I like the step and the hula hoop games but haven't played it enough to unlock tougher levels.

  8. I really like my wii fit. I also just got the Jillian Micheals "game" but I havne't tried it yet. It's a good addition to workouts you are already doing and I use if for days when I just can't possibley do anything at all... its all about what you put into it so I'm sure you would do great with it.
