So here's the official data for the race:
5k - 143 Participants
Dad - 26:00, 49th place
Ash - 28:56, 71st place
10k - 96 Participants
Dad - 57:11, 52nd place
Ash - WINNER OF THE 18-24 AGE DIVISION!!!!!!!!!!!
And I wasn't at the awards b/c I was watching the 10k, so I didn't hear my name called, but I got a reusable bag and a waterbottle today! I'm the champ! LOL
I'm not going to lie, I think it's hysterical I won my age division... I'm happy, but I feel like this race had to have been a fluke. How the heck did I cut 2 mins in 3 weeks AND on a hilly course?! Ahhh, we'll see how I do May 16th at the Coach Hep 5k :)

WOO-HOO! Even better! Great job :)
ReplyDeleteawesome!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Speedy Gonzales. Perhaps your newfound speed comes from fixing your form. That helped me a lot. I've found it's easier to breath and I get more of a push forward when I don't cross my arms. Your Dad may be a genius... :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Ash! How awesome is that win!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!! I always run faster in races than I do in training - even though I try to keep the same pace. I think it is just the rush of everyone around me that makes me run faster.
ReplyDeletehey! i just found your blog today and think its awesome! I am into fitness and eating healthy so this is great! =] and congrats on winning!
ReplyDeleteDon't diminish your accomplishment! You did awesome! It's not a fluke! YOU ran that race. YOU finished in record time AND YOU won your age group. Be proud!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way when I came in #1 in my 10k, than I found out there was only 3 people in my age division. Hahaha! I bet out 2 people. Woot!
WOW Congrats Ashlee. Sounds like you had a very successful run. Be very proud of yourself!
ReplyDeleteThat is AWESOME!!! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME JOB!
ReplyDeleteown it, Woman.
shout it from the rooftops :)
That's Great! Good Job!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo that is amazing! Just goes to show you're getting stronger by the second.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteNot to rain on your parade, but it might be possible that the course was a little short. To cut that amount of time in a 5K in 3 weeks would be pretty intense, especially if the course was hilly. That would be 40 seconds off of each of your miles. Did you or your dad wear a Garmin or other GPS that might've let you know whether the course was a little short?
ReplyDeleteEither way, CONGRATS on winning your age group! That definitely doesn't depend on the course since everyone ran the same one!
