Yawn.

For some reason I've been so exhausted today.
I didn't get to bed until close to midnight last night because JJ had a 7pm game, and had to pick the dogs up from his parents house. He got home around 11:30, and we had to move some furniture back. On the bright side, the carpets look fantastic! I love clean carpet.

So work was normal, but around 4pm, I was crashing hard. I was so close to skipping spinning, but I dug deep and went. I mustered up the energy to push through class, and boy was it hard! I had my endorphin high, and a burst of energy, but now I'm barely able to keep my eyes open!
I love when I feel like I've left it all there in the gym, pushed as hard as I could. For some reason, it's easier for me to do that in classes at the Y and not when I run on the weekends. I feel like I never give it 100% because I'm scared I won't make it to the end.

So whenever you work out, do you feel like you pushed it to 100% every time? Just certain workouts? Or only at races?

I know when I run races, I give it my all... except for the half marathon. I definitely wasn't pushing hard because I wanted to make it to the end, and had I tried to run faster from miles 1-10, I don't think I would have survived 11-13. However, when I run on the weekends, I don't feel like I'm running really hard and fast. I'll start out pushing my speed, but then towards the end I slow up a bit and feel like I'm on cruise control. When I do strength training, I always feel like I gave it my all, and leave with jelly-arms!

  1. For me it really depends. I'm cautious like you when I'm running because I get nervous I won't be able to finish if I push too hard at the beginning, but when I do things like No More Trouble Zones and The Shred, I feel like I have no choice but to give 100%!

  2. Hey- I read your blog every day and just wanted to wish you luck on losing those last 20lbs. You've come this far, you can do it!

Also, I know you've mentioned the idea of possibly following a vegetarian lifestyle. I don't eat much red meat, but I do like seafood a lot so it's not 100% realistic for me... however, I found out about this book on hungrygirl.com and wanted to pass it along "The Flexitarian Diet: The Mostly Vegetarian Way to Lose Weight, Be Healthier, Prevent Disease, and Add Years to Your Life". Might be worth checking out! Talks about the mostly vegetarian lifestyle and gives lots of recipe ideas.

    Good luck!!

  3. I love the jelly arms too! Body pump definitely makes me feel that way, and I have recently started playing tennis and can feel all of the new muscles sore after every workout :)

  4. @ Anonymous - Thanks for reading and for the encouragement! I actually was a vegetarian for 7 years, but since switched to eating what's best for me/what my body needs. I eat around 95% vegetarian, maybe meat once a week.
I have looked into Hungry Girl recipes, however she uses a lot of processed foods and artifical ingredients, which don't appeal to me or fit into my diet. However, I know that she does great replicas, and many people love her and have cut their calories significantly through her recipes.

  5. I feel the same way about running. I'm always scared to really give it my all because I'm afraid I won't be able to push to the end! Maybe it would be better to start out hard and go as long as I can and just stop when I feel like it.
