-Walt Disney
So in the past 24 hours, I've been going over and over the half marathon logistics in my head. I knew I could do it, and all of your comments really made me realize that I can, and I want to!
Then a few things happened. First, I realized that it's on SUNDAY not Saturday, which meant that JJ could go. It also meant I could make the desserts Friday and drop them off Saturday morning for the party.
So I thought... and I tried to piece it all together. I asked my mother-in-law if she they would be home Saturday night to watch the granddogs. They could.
Then I looked into prices. Registration is $120 (ouch), Disney Resort hotels had been set aside at $124... not too bad. We'd only have to stay one night.
So I called JJ and laid it all out. We'll have to take $400 from savings, but he said to do it. I rarely put myself first, and who knows, I could get struck by lightening March 8 and die never having run a half marathon. I'm more prepared now than ever, and maybe more than I ever will be. I've taken money out of savings once before for my health ($500 for the elliptical), and it paid off.
I have a good feeling it will this time, as well!
So I did it.
I registered.
I'm going to run a half marathon.
In Disney World.
And if I'm lucky, I'll get to see Belle (my fave Disney princess)
And let me tell you, the last time I was at Disney World (3 years ago), I DID NOT EVER think I'd be going back the next time to run a half marathon... boy, how things change!
Congratulations! I am so excited for you. Disney races are huge but that makes it so fun and exciting. Can't wait to see how you do!

ReplyDeleteYour story about Disney reminds me so much of myself. I remember going to Disney in January of '08 on the marathon weekend. I thought how crazy it was and I could never, ever in a million years even run a half marathon. Less than two years later, I did it. And guess what? In January 2011, I'm going to run the FULL! (But shh, that's a secret ;) )
Amazing what we can accomplish, isn't it?
