Candy Girl

Thanks for all of your well wishes. My headache is still not really gone. I don't know what the deal is... but it's not good!  I'm about to go put on the stim and lay in bed and read... 
One of my biggest weaknesses in life is candy. I am all about desserts and sweets and candy. I've been known to bypass dinner and order a Guiness and chocolate cake at restaurants. More often when I was in college... but some days I still really just want beer and cake. With vanilla ice cream.

I've been doing well with not eating much candy, but then I found these and couldn't pass them up. Twilight Sweethearts! They're flavored like fruit (so in my opinion, better than regular sweethearts), and they have Twilight sayings on the candy. I'm such a little kid, and I love them.

Tomorrow Lou and I are going to run after work. I'm looking forward to it. I still haven't decided if I want to try for 9 miles on Saturday. I think I probably will, then each Saturday for the next month do 8, 7, 6, and then it's the 15k, so I'd taper off well... but is that tapering off too much? I've never run this far before... hmm. Advice??

  1. Maybe twilight sweethearts are just what you need to get rid of that headache ;o)

  2. I ran my first half in October and I didn't taper. The week before the race I ran 10 miles - and come race time it was a stretch to do the final three miles.

    I followed Hal Higdon's beginner half marathon training.

    Someone once told me if you've run 8 miles, you can run 13. I think it'd be hard but definitely doable.

  3. Hey Nicki - I'm actually running a 15k (9.3 miles) not a half, so I'll be running 9 this weekend, then tapering off for 3 weeks, then running 9.3
    But good to know, I was worried going from 6 to 9 would be too hard, but it sounds like I should be ok!

  6. I think you may be tapering off a little early - I would taper to 8, 7, 7 or 8, 8, 6 and make your midweek runs really easy in that last week.
