Day 35: Goodbye, elliptical!

First off, thank you all for your comments on the dresses! I have decided to go with the second dress. Mostly for comfort, but also because I think it's more fun and party like. I love the first one though, and if I ever go to another event where it would be appropriate, I'll have to beg Courtney to let me borrow it!

So last week I got a call from my mom with some great news, my elliptical sold! I don't think I mentioned it on here, but when we moved from Indiana, I knew it was going to be a pain to take it with us, plus we had nowhere to put it while living in the apartment, and I didn't know if I'd want it in our future home. The electrical plug was getting loose, and it would turn on and off periodically, and needed some work done. So I decided to have my mom take it to Play it Again Sports to see if it would sell.
It was a really hard decision, I had the elliptical for a little over 3 years, and it is what helped me lose the first 50 pounds! I was religious about working out every night because of the convenience of having it at home. I could watch TV, listen to music, workout early, workout late, etc. I still think it was the best decision I ever made with getting my weight loss/healthy lifestyle change kicked off.
So today I got a check for $150 from my mom. I am happy that the machine sold for that much, and I'm a little sad that it's actually gone :(  Part of me wants to get another machine, either an elliptical or a treadmill (for when I workout and it's dark, too hot/cold, etc.) but we don't really have a good place to put it in the new house...

So I did have a comment left that basically asked how did I select my elliptical. If you read this post, it should give you some insight. I knew that I had to have a good machine if I wanted to do it right, so I spent a bit more. I would have loved to get a Precor, but they're really expensive. The Horizon was heavy duty, but still cheaper than the Precor. It ran great for 3 years, and I had no complaints up until the electrical part got loose. I would definitely go try them out though, see what you like, what settings are important to you, etc., rather than just look for a certain price or whatever is on sale or online.

Today after work, Lou and I went for a run as planned. I wanted to do 4, but he wasn't feeling the run today, and wanted to do 3, so that's what we did. It was a nice run, it started to drizzle a little, but was overall pretty comfortable and the pace was decent.

After our run, I went home and made dinner, which was a sesame crusted tofu 'steak' over stir fried kale and some rice. I made JJ chicken, rice and a salad. It was kind of a clean out the fridge night.
After dinner, we went to Target so I could get some accessories and cosmetics for my dress. I was so torn on what to pick out jewelry wise, but decided to go with flashy but could be worn again, and got gold hoop earrings with a filligre pattern in them. I also got some plum color nail polish, lip gloss, and a dark purple flower to put in my hair. I'm not sure which shoes I'm going to wear though, either my purple peep toes or my beige ruffles... hmm

When I was at target, I found a new pair of my most favorite thing in the world, seasonal knit mary jane slippers! I love these slippers, and get a new pair every season. I wear them around the house all of the time! I tried to get some photos, but of course the dogs were all over me...

After our trip to target, we watched the IU/Purdue basketball game. It was at IU on ESPN, it made me so sad because JJ and I went to so many games at Assembly Hall during his 2 years at IU. It was so much fun, and I really miss going to sporting events. I could go to his events, but he's at a small Division II school, and it's just not the same :(
Well I'm off to bed, I want to make sure I get lots of sleep so I have energy tomorrow night for the gala :)

Oh, and I have my weigh-in in the morning! Cross your fingers, I hope I'm in the 168's!
I might not get in a post tomorrow night. I'll try really hard, but I might get home really late. I might post 2 on Saturday to make up for it!

  2. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of you in the dress with all the accessories. I miss sorority formals and semi-formals. I enjoyed that so much in college. It sounds like you have a similar type party this weekend.

  3. I can totally imagine the emotional attachment to the elliptical. But I'm glad it's sold, and now hopefully it will go on to serve someone else well. :)

I hope you have a good weekend!

  4. My mum just told me that I can take her eliptical because she's not using it right now - I'm so pumped :) I can put it in the basement and get on it whenever I can't get outside to do something (like when mother nature decides to punnish me).
