Day 17: Chickens, Scales and PR's, Oh my!

This morning when I woke up, I STILL felt awful. I finished my week long supply of Ny/DayQuil, so I decided to try something new. I've gotten more congested as the week has gone on, so JJ said I should try Mucinex. We went out at 8 and got a box, as well as an Iced Coffee and the paper. We came home and I cut my coupons out and drank tons of tea. I started to feel a little better, but It's still so discouraging to be sick a week later.
I've decided that if the Mucinex doesn't start working and I still feel bad Tuesday morning, I'm going to find a doctor. I know I should have one by now, but I hate trying to find a doctor when I move!

We had plans to meet JJ's parents and his Grandparents for an early lunch to celebrate Granddaddy's 85th Birthday. We were supposed to meet at 2, but baseball practice was moved so we had to meet earlier and miss church!

Now I am a Yankee girl. I grew up on Long Island and then in suburban Cincinnati. Florida is a bit of culture shock for me at times... but usually in a fun/funny way. When we got to the restaurant for lunch (off US 1, a main road), there was a random chicken in the parking lot. And he walked over to me. What???

Well, you can at least see how nice it is, I'm wearing a skirt and flip-flops in January! It's been absolutely gorgeous today, just really windy. But I'll take it!
Since we went to a seafood restaurant and I'm not a fan, I got a blackened chicken salad, which was great. It was pretty plain and basic, just what I was hoping for.

After lunch, JJ went off to work and I ran some errands. (Kris, if you're reading this, I forgot to put Dan's b-day card in his package, so it's mailed seperately. I don't know which will get there first!) I picked up a scale today! It's very fancy..

So I decided on a few ways to change my relationship with the scale. Firstly, it's not the dreaded scale. She has a name, it's Sally. By giving her a name, I can develop friendly feelings for her. I tried to put myself in her shoes today, and found that it was VERY easy for me to relate.
You see, as an accountant, I report the business to my boss each month. Now it's not my fault when sales are low and we don't make much money, I'm just the deliverer of bad news. Unfair? Maybe. But that's what Sally is. She's just telling me what I should already know. And it's not Sally's fault if I have to weigh myself every day and become obsessed. It's my fault. And I'd only see bad numbers and get upset it I didn't exercise or eat right.

So I see Sally and I being cool with eachother. I'll keep her in the closet Saturday-Thursday, and only weigh myself on Fridays. I can't help myself if she's just sitting there, so I'll keep her away and there won't be temptation.
I'm a little nervous to see what my # will be in the morning, especially since this week has been lazy and sickly lethargic on my part, but oh well!

So after my errands, and knowing I had a weigh-in in the morning, I decided to do another 2 miler. JJ suggested I put the reciever in my shoe today rather than use the reciever holder for the laces. Apparently it worked, because it picked up today's run!

At the end, something VERY funny happened. Tiger Woods himself came on and congradulated me on my average mile PR with the Nike+. Thanks, Tiger ;)

Now the pups and are I relaxing on the couch watching football and Life As A House, one of my favorite movies.
Tonight for dinner I made a light, vegan Italian Lentil Stew... though I'll probably un-vegan it with some parmesan cheese :)
How is it already Sunday evening?!?! I want more weekend...

  3. A chicken... that is crazy! It's not crazy for my area of NC but for FLA... I would think that would be nuts!
